Shoplifting, theft leads this week’s Mt. Laurel Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

On May 11 at 9 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the U-Haul at 3609 West Route 38 for a theft report. The investigation revealed that between May 9 and May 11, catalytic converters were removed from six U-Haul trucks. The value of the catalytic converters and damage to the trucks is estimated at $5,400.

On May 11 at 7 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to a business on the 2000 block of Briggs Road. A victim reported that the license plates were stolen off of his Acura RL that had been parked at the location between May 9 and May 11.

On May 12 at 3:10 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to a burglar alarm at the LukOil at 3237 Route 38. Arriving officers discovered that a window had been smashed out of the business. No entry was made into the establishment.

On May 12 at 3:45 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to Dick’s Sporting Goods on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. The investigation led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man from Philadelphia and a 35-year-old woman from Philadelphia. The man was charged with shoplifting after he removed anti-shoplifting tags from merchandise valued at over $400 and then concealed the merchandise in his clothing. His bail was set at $2,500 with no 10 percent option and he was committed to the Burlington County Jail. The woman was charged with being a fugitive from justice after it was discovered she was wanted in Montgomery County, Pa. and Harrisburg, Pa. for parole violations. She also had several warrants for her arrest from jurisdictions in New Jersey. Her bail was set at $15,000 with no 10 percent option and she was committed to the Burlington County Work Release Center.

On May 12 at 11:10 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Exxon station at 799 Centerton Road for the report of an armed robbery. The investigation revealed that a lone male approached an attendant and demanded money. The suspect displayed a handgun and the attendant turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the area on foot towards the Rancocas Point development. The suspect was described as a black male, 5-feet 11-inches tall, 170 pounds, in his 40’s wearing tan pants, a grey shirt, and a blue bandana across his face.

On May 14 at 10:40 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the area of Route 38 and Ark Road for a motor vehicle crash. During the investigation, officers arrested a 31-year-old woman from Mt. Holly. She was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the unit block of Holly Cove reported that between May 11 and May 12, a boy’s Next BMX bicycle was stolen from in front of the residence.

On May 14 at 11:50 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. The investigation revealed that a male suspect stole approximately $35 worth of merchandise and ran from the store. He was last seen getting into a gray two-door Volkswagon with New Jersey registration. The vehicle also had aftermarket rims, rear tinted windows, and damage to the front passenger side bumper.

On May 14 at 2:25 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old man and 29-year-old woman of Mt. Laurel. They were charged with shoplifting after they stole approximately $90 worth of merchandise and then attempted to return it for a cash refund.

A victim reported that while his vehicle was parked at the Wawa at 1115 North Route 73, between 5:40 and 6 p.m. on May 14, someone entered his vehicle. The suspect stole various electronic items out of the vehicle valued at approximately $360. The suspect is a white male in his late 20’s or early 30’s, approximately 6-feet tall. He had short, light-colored hair with a receding hairline and was wearing a yellow polo shirt with tan shorts and black shoes. The suspect appeared to be driving a white Honda Civic.
