Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice and Ugandan sister hospice presented with 2015 Global Partnership Award

Samaritan VP of Marketing & Public Affairs Joanne Rosen accepts Global Partnership Award from NHPCO Director of Access Gwynn Sullivan.

Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice and its sister hospice in Uganda, Kawempe Home Care, were recently presented with the 2015 Global Partnership Award at the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization’s (NHPCO) annual Management and Leadership Conference, an event that drew over 1,200 hospice and palliative care leaders to the Washington, D.C. area.

“Samaritan feels both elated and humbled to be chosen for the 2015 Global Partnership Award from the 80 U.S. hospices which have chosen to share resources, expertise, and friendship with a sister hospice across the globe,” Samaritan President and CEO Mary Ann Boccolini said. “On behalf of all those hospices, we welcome the opportunity to participate more fully in our global village.”

The Global Partnership Award recognizes the exemplary work of one partnership that has demonstrated leadership, innovation and has significantly contributed to the sustainable development of hospice and palliative care through their Global Partners in Care partnership. The award winner is selected based on creativity in fundraising, partner collaboration, staff contribution and commitment, and community outreach and involvement.

“We are honored and grateful for our partnership of education, support and friendship with the inspirational staff of Kawempe Home Care,” said Joanne Rosen, African Hospice Committee Chair and VP of Marketing & Public Affairs, Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice. “This award honors the commitment by the entire Samaritan community and spurs us to do even more to engage others in supporting our wonderful partners in their life-enhancing mission.”

Global Partners in Care’s innovative partnership initiative provides opportunities for U.S. hospice and palliative care organizations to make a commitment to support a hospice and palliative care organization in a developing country.
