Phyllis Zitarelli Hewitt, age 67, of Haddonfield died on Wednesday, April 29. Phyllis was a graduate of Moore College of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She was an accomplished watercolorist of irises and children, then oil portraits of individuals, families, distinguished physicians at Kennedy, Cooper, Newark, Bellvue and NYU, and one horse. Toward the end of her career, she focused on landscapes, then clouds and finally abstracts.

Phyllis was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Simpers) Zitarelli. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. James L. Hewitt; children, Joseph (Cathy) Hewitt and Elizabeth (Kayhan) Mirza; and four grandchildren, and friend too many more.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m. with her memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Haddonfield, 124 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, N.J. 08033. Light refreshments will follow the service. Interment is private.
