Freeholders Seek Volunteers for County Park Cleanup

Clean Communities

Freeholder Director Mary Ann O’Brien announced today that the Burlington County Freeholders are still seeking volunteers through the Clean Communities Office to participate in the first of three County park clean-up days which has been rescheduled to take place Saturday, April 18.

“Being well into April, we can expect warmer weather and the clean up to be held without interruption,” said Freeholder Director O’Brien. “We encourage County residents of all ages to come together and lend a hand to keep our community green as we prepare to recognize Earth Week the following week.”

For all events, volunteers are encouraged to bring drinking water and wear long pants, long sleeves, long socks and sturdy close-toed shoes that can get muddy. Bags and gloves will be provided. Participants younger than age 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and letters documenting volunteer community service will be available to students. (Severe weather will cancel the event.)

The first clean-up day has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 18th at Pennington Park, on Creek Road, in Delanco. For the 5th year, volunteers will help inventory and collect litter along the shoreline of the Rancocas Creek at this 140- acre park. The clean-up runs from 8:30 AM until 11:30 AM (sign in begins at 8:15). Meet in the parking lot to the right of the main entrance. Registration is requested for planning, but feel free to just show up. Contact the Clean Communities office atcleancomm@co.burlington.nj.us, or (609) 499–1001, ext. 266 — provide name, town, email, and phone number.
