The March of Dimes New Jersey Chapter will have Virtua as a 2015 March for Babies State Sponsor. Virtua has been an event sponsor for over 20 years and raised over $1,000,000 for the March of Dimes. March for Babies is the March of Dimes’ premier fundraising event, with 14 walk sites all throughout New Jersey.

New Jersey residents can sign up today at marchforbabies.org and start a team with co-workers, family or friends. Most walks in New Jersey will be held on April 26, 2015; Virtua will host the Camden/Burlington County walk on its Voorhees campus on April 26 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Patty Lubrano, Vice President Patient Services at Virtua, will serve as the Camden/Burlington County March for Babies walk chair.

“As a healthcare professional, this campaign gives me and Virtua a unique opportunity to help the community. As an advocate for Women & Children and a mother, I can think of no more important cause than the health of our babies,” said Patty Lubrano, MSN, RN, FACHE, Vice President Patient Care Services at Virtua Voorhees, who will be asking other local businesses for their support in the coming months. “Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death in this country. One in nine of our babies here in Camden and Burlington counties are born premature which is just not acceptable. It takes leaders in our community working together to ensure more moms have healthy pregnancies. More than 20,000 companies are partnering in March for Babies to help reduce the premature birth rate and improve the health of babies.”

March for Babies, the March of Dimes largest fundraiser, helps fund lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. Last year, the event in New Jersey raised more than $3.1 million — this year, Virtua hopes to raise record amounts to help the March of Dimes continue its mission.

“For over 20 years Virtua has been a leading partner in fundraising for the South Jersey Division,” said Dania Sargent, March of Dimes Executive Director, South Jersey Division. “We consider Virtua family. From Virtua President and CEO Richard P. Miller, who we have presented with an outstanding service recognition award, and their leadership team to employees on all levels, they support our Chapter at several different events. Our Camden/Burlington County March for Babies takes place right on their hospital campus in Voorhees. We are so grateful for the many ways they support our mission and for their longtime partnership,”
