Haddonfield Crew rows to receive multiple medals

Crew Womens JV8

Haddonfield’s Women’s JV8+ earned an impressive gold medal in its 1500 meter race at the 2nd Annual Steve Neczypor Memorial Regatta held at the Cooper River on April 4. The ladies won 22.48 seconds ahead of all other boats with a time of 05:21.50. Teams faced adverse rowing conditions with high winds and rough waters.

The JV8+ boat included Abby Bentley, Kathleen Hohweiler, Kate Donohue, Hannah Cooper, coxswain Emma Tranfalia, Christie Castorino, Caroline Bolletino, Mia Ippolito and Elina Kommedal. The Women’s lightweight varsity 8+ earned silver. The boat included coxswain Lydia Mackey, Shannon Murphy, Natalie Zucca, Kiernan Loue, Emily Campo, Grace Bowman, Julia Honigfeld, Alex Palavage and Katie Montegna. The Womens novice 8+ earned silver. The boat included teammates X. Shi, M. Clapp, G. Figlioli, E. Hogan, J. Sky, A. Berlin, E. Knox, B. Courtney and V. Fanelle.

Not to be outdone, the Men’s JV4+ earned its first gold medal. Tyler Waltimyer, Connor Vielehr, Ryan Waltimyer, Ben Masclans and Coxswain Lydia Mackey won with a time of 5:55.20. The Mens JV 8+ — B. Giangiulio, L. Small, M. Levin, A. Fisher, L. Mersky, A. Sperandio, Z. Ruggiero, M. Schmitt and O. Hart — had the fastest time of the day in their race with a time of 4:34.10, just 07.70 seconds ahead of second place Greenwich Crew.
