Cherry Hill Police arrest suspect after burglary, second suspect still at-large

The following information was provided by the Cherry Hill Police Department.

On Tuesday March 31 at approximately noon, an alert citizen noticed two males exit a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of 401 Route 70 East. The caller observed the males jump over a fence and enter the backyard of a residence.

Cherry Hill Police arrived within minutes and observed two males climbing a nearby fence heading towards their vehicle. Both males fled on foot upon noticing the uniformed officers.

The first suspect, a 49-year=old man from Philadelphia, was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. The second man, identified as a 33-year-old man from Philadelphia, eluded capture. It was determined that the males had just committed a residential burglary at the 400 block of Wayland Road when police interrupted them. The 49-year-old was in possession of jewelry, which was identified as stolen property from the homeowner.

The 49-year-old was charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, theft, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail in default of $100,000 full cash bail. Warrants were issued for the 33-year-old man, who presently remains at large.

Police credit the witness who was an integral part in the successful apprehension of a burglary suspect.
