A community pet food assistance program supported by the Animal Alliance of Camden County will launch on Saturday, April 11. The Animal Alliance of Camden County is a partnership of Camden County Shared Services and local animal welfare agencies that include Animal Adoption Center, Voorhees Animal Orphanage, Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees, Camden County Animal Shelter, and Independent Animal Control. Alliance members share a common goal of finding homes for unwanted and neglected animals, including efforts to keep owned pets with their families.

“As the Alliance’s first cooperative program, we are extremely excited to unite in a collective effort to help pets and pet families,” said Chris Harris, Shelter Director at Animal Adoption Center.

Camden County Pet Food Pantry’s purpose is to keep pets with their families by offering food assistance. Owners surrender pets to local shelters regularly, and financial hardship is a common reason for doing so. The Alliance seeks to help Camden County residents keep pets in their homes by providing nutritional assistance to those in need. The only requirement is a need for assistance in providing food for a pet.

“This is a great resource for Camden County pet owners that are going through difficult times,” said Freeholder Michelle Gentek, liaison to the Camden County Animal Shelter. “Families should not be faced with the difficult choice of giving up a cherished pet when purchasing food becomes a challenge.”

Camden County Pet Food Pantry locations will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for food pick-up on the second Saturday of every month, starting Saturday, April 11.

Pet Food Pantry Locations include: Animal Adoption Center, 501 Berlin Road North, Lindenwold, Animal Welfare Association of Voorhees, 509 Centennial Blvd, Voorhees Township, and Camden County Animal Shelter 125 County House Road, Blackwood.
