It may have been a cold, wintry night, but inside Florence V. Evans School the competition was heating up. Twenty-one fifth grade Evans students participated in the First Annual Marlton Woman’s Club Spelling Bee on Feb. 18. The event went 30 rounds before a winner emerged.
Top achievers were Sid Parikh in 1st place, Amanda Connolly in 2nd place and Kerri Scott in 3rd place. All three went on to participate in the Woman’s Club Garden District Finals, held on Feb 22 in Voorhees.
Marlton Woman’s Club is dedicated to making a difference in the local community. Members of the club staffed the event and provided refreshments for those in attendance.
“We had a wonderful time supporting and recognizing the fifth grade spellers who participated,” said June Adair, spelling bee coordinator. “It was a pleasure to see all the students supporting and encouraging each other.”
