Lenape senior and Lenape Television member Lindsay Wood placed in the Top 10 in the 2014 KYW Newstudies competition. More than 100 students from across the Delaware Valley attended workshops in the fall at the KYW Studios in Philadelphia. Since 1968, KYW Newsradio has given high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a major market radio station with the Newstudies student reporter program.
Students come to the KYW Newsradio studios to learn newswriting, reporting, ethics and interviewing skills from station managers, editors, reporters, anchors and guest speakers. Then they research, write and record news stories about their school and community.
Lindsay won a $100 gift certificate as a reward for her strong showing. Her news report (along with that of Celine Pence, another Lenape senior who participated in the program) actually aired on the radio station in December.
