Mt. Laurel Police looking for suspect in bank robbery, AT&T theft

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

On Jan. 23 at 4:22 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police Officers responded to the Beneficial Bank at 3220 Route 38, for the report of a robbery. The investigation revealed that a subject entered the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled on foot into a wooded area near the bank. No weapon was shown and no injuries reported. The suspect was described as a male, approximately six-feet one-inch tall, medium build, between 30 and 40 years of age. Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to contact the Mt. On Feb. 1 at 12:15 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to the AT&T Store on Nixon Drive for a theft report. The store manager reported that four males wearing hooded sweatshirts with their faces covered entered the store at 11:50 a.m. and stole multiple electronics from the display tables. The items stolen include iPads, computer tablets and cell phones valued at $2,945. The suspects quickly grabbed the merchandise and ran from the store towards Dick’s Sporting Goods. Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 36-year-old female from Mt. Laurel on Jan. 24 for shoplifting $94 in merchandise from the Shoprite on Union Mill Road. The theft occurred on Jan. 23 at 2:22 p.m. She was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the 100 block of Colony Court reported a theft from an unlocked vehicle between 7 p.m. Jan. 23 and 1:55 p.m. Jan. 24. A credit card, auto repair kit, and sunglasses, valued at approximately $150, were taken.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 20year-old woman from Camden on Jan. 25 for hindering her own apprehension and drug offences. Police were dispatched to a hotel on the 500 block of Diemer Drive for a disturbance at 5:31 a.m. During the investigation it was discovered the woman was in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and that she had provided a false name to police. She was charged with hindering her own apprehension, possession of heroin, and possession of a hypodermic needle. She was committed to the Correction Work Release Center in lieu of $12,500 bail with no 10 percent option.

A resident of the unit block of Boothby Drive reported a theft from an unlocked vehicle between 7:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 25. A Garmin GPS, valued at approximately $150, was taken.

On Jan. 26 at 9:25 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 9000 block of Midlantic Drive. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 35-year-old man from Philadelphia. He provided a fictitious name to officers in an attempt to avoid arrest on outstanding warrants from several jurisdictions. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension with bail set at $5,000 with no 10 percent option. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Jan. 27 at 1:10 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Interstate-295. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 39-year-old woman from Maple Shade. She provided a fictitious name to officers in an attempt to avoid a traffic summons. She was charged with hindering her own apprehension and released pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 27 at 12:45 p.m. an employee of a business on Walt Whitman Drive reported that money and prescription drugs were stolen from her purse that was left unattended in an office.

On Jan. 27 at 1:27 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Mainsail Boulevard near Creek Road. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 24-year-old man from Lakewood, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams. He was released on a summons pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 28 at 12:10 a.m., Mt. Laurel Police received the report that a subject under the influence of drugs was in a wooded area in of town threatening suicide. The report was made to police by a drug addiction counselor who had received an anonymous phone call reporting the situation. The investigation led officers to a wooded area near Ark Road and Woodlark Drive. Several agencies responded to help search for the endangered subject in the sub-freezing temperatures to include Moorestown Police, Westampton Police K-9, Mt. Laurel Fire Department, and a New Jersey State Police Helicopter. Investigators later determined the call was a hoax committed by a 23-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. The man was arrested at his home at 3 a.m. on Jan. 28 and charged with creating a false public alarm. Bail was set at $10,000.00 with a 10 percent option. He posted bail and was released pending a court hearing.

Sometime between Jan. 24 and Jan. 28, a vacant residence on Telford Lane was forcibly entered and copper plumbing pipe was removed. The residence suffered water damage.

On Jan. 28 at 3:35 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to ShopRite on Union Mill Road, for a shoplifting. Officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Mt. Holly. He was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of narcotic prescription drugs not prescribed to him. Bail was set at $16,000.00 with no 10 percent option. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

A resident of the 100 block of Waverly Avenue reported that sometime between Jan. 25 and Jan. 28 someone entered an unlocked garage and stole numerous power tools valued at approximately $1,200.

A resident of Columbia Avenue reported that sometime between Jan. 22 and Jan. 29 someone entered his unlocked yard shed and stole numerous power and hand tools. The value of the tools is unknown.

On Jan. 28 at 10:20 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Church Street near Elbo Lane following an erratic driver complaint. As a result of the stop officers arrested a 19-year-old man from Mt. Laurel for possession of marijuana under 50 grams. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 28 at 9:45 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle sop on a vehicle on Union Mill Road at Ark Road. As a result of the stop officers arrested the driver, a 40-year-old man from Mt. Laurel and charged him with driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 29 at 7 p.m., officers conducted an investigation into suspicious activity at a hotel on the 500 block of Fellowship Road. As a result of the investigation officers arrested a 23-year-old woman of Easton, Penn. and charged her with engaging in prostitution.

On Jan. 29 at 10:15 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Target on Centerton Road for a report of an employee stealing merchandise. As a result of the investigation, an employee, a 32-year-old man from Newark, Del., was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 28 at 6:45 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the YMCA on Centerton Road for a theft report. A victim reported that his cell phone was stolen when it was left unattended near the basketball court. The investigation led to a residence in Willingboro and the arrest of a 17-year-old male. He was charged with theft and released to his parents pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m. officers conducted an investigation into suspicious activity at a hotel on Route 73. As a result of the investigation, officers arrested a 19-year-old woman from Waterbury, Conn. She was charged with engaging in prostitution and possession of marijuana under 50 grams. She was released pending a court hearing.

On Jan. 30 at 11 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police located a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a hotel on Crawford Place. The investigation led to the arrest of the driver, a 21-year-old man from Pennsauken, for outstanding criminal and traffic warrants. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana under 50 grams. He was charged with possession of marijuana and turned over to Cinnaminson Police for the outstanding warrants.

On Jan. 31 at 4:35 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Atrium Way. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 41-year-old man from Edgewater Park. He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a minor passenger in the vehicle. He had a child in the vehicle when he was stopped. He was released pending a court hearing. The child was turned over to a family member.

On Jan. 31 at 9:15 p.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Larchmont Boulevard. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 22-year-old woman from Mt. Laurel. She was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and released pending a court hearing.

On Feb. 1 at 1:15 a.m. Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 73 near Atrium Way. During the stop officers arrested the driver, a 23-year-old man from Mt. Laurel. He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a court hearing.
