NAACP, Mt. Laurel Library teaming up for Black History Month reading contest

Southern Burlington County NAACP and Mt. Laurel Library are pleased to announce that we will host a Black History Month reading contest throughout the month of February. This is the literacy initiative’s third annual contest, which celebrates the rich heritage, contributions, and accomplishments of African Americans.

To participate, children in kindergarten through fourth grade can read any book written by an African American or about Black history or culture. Each book read will count as an entry to win the grand prize in the raffle drawing. Children can read more books to increase their chances to win.

One lucky reader will be randomly selected to win the grand prize, a Kindle Fire with an eBook. All participants will receive a reading certificate and a bookmark.

Children can track books using a reading log available in the library or on its website at www.mtlaurel.lib.nj.us. A valid Mt. Laurel Library card is required to participate. The contest runs from Saturday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 28. The grand prizewinner will be announced after Monday, March 9.
