On Dec. 13,members of the Evesham Police Department, with partnership from the Evesham Police Foundation will be participating in their first annual “Cop with a Shop” program. The Evesham Police Foundation is comprised of local Evesham Township businessman and women, who volunteered their own time to raise in excess of $8,000 in funds to support this program.

Members of the Evesham Police Department will be accompanying children in need from the community, who were selected in cooperation with officials from the local school district. Officers will be transporting the children and their parents to the Walmart department store in Marlton to go on a shopping spree for their family members. At the conclusion of the shopping spree, the officers and families will travel to the Gibson House Community Center to wrap the gifts, share in holiday cheer and meet with Santa.

The program is designed to provide children in need in the community with the opportunity to purchase holiday gifts for themselves and their family members during these difficult economic times, when they would otherwise go without. It also provides these children the opportunity to spend some quality time with police officers and staff members of the Evesham Police Department “up close and personal” in a positive and non-confrontational environment.
