Evesham Police Department charges suspect for 2012 distraction burglary and theft

The following information comes from Lt. Joseph Friel of the Evesham Township Police Department.

On Dec. 5, members of the Evesham Police Investigative Bureau charged a male, age 31, of Bensalem, Pa, with burglary and theft stemming from an incident that occurred in November of 2012.

On Nov 6, 2012, the male approached an elderly resident on the 100 block of North Locust Avenue and presented himself as an employee of a local utility company. The male entered the residence under the false pretense that the homeowner was experiencing water problems.

While inside the residence, the male stole $550 in United States currency and numerous items of jewelry. The male quickly fled the residence after the homeowner became suspicious.

After a thorough investigation, members of the Evesham Police Department Investigative Bureau and state police were able to identify the male as a suspect in the 2012 investigation.

The male was identified through the use of advanced technology and investigative skills, which placed the male at the scene of the burglary and theft.

The male was charged with the third degree burglary and third degree theft and is currently lodged in the Howard Young State Prison.
