The Haddonfield Public Library will be open every day in October.
Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 pm
The Library Board of Trustees has adopted the 2014 holiday and other closing days schedule. The library will be closed on these days in 2014:
Jan. 1; April 18, 19 and 20; May 24 through 26; July 4; Aug. 30 through Sept. 1; Nov. 27; Dec. 24 and 25; and January 1, 2015.
Computer Classes
On Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to noon there will be a computer class called “Getting started with Word.” Learn the basic elements of Microsoft Word, the most widely used word processing program. Skills will include opening and closing documents, saving documents, and printing. Basic computer skills are needed for this program, experience using the computer, keyboard and mouse.
On Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to noon there will be a computer class called “Getting started with Excel.” Take this introduction to the basics of Microsoft’s spreadsheet program, Excel. Basic computer skills are needed for this program, experience using the computer, keyboard and mouse.

Adult Program:
On Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. Lewis Pecsi, the author of “The Awakened Poe”, a graphic novel about Poe’s works, will give a book talk and autograph copies of his book. Poe needs no introduction for his literary works have frightened millions of avid readers for nearly two hundred years and inspired many writers, artist and filmmakers. Mr. Pecsi’s book, “The Awakened Poe,” fuses Poe’s literary works with his graphic artwork. “The Black Cat,” “The Tell Tale Heart,” “The Raven,” “The Pit and The Pendulum,” and “Alone” are all visualized in vivid digital paintings and are guaranteed to give the reader a new appreciation for Poe’s tales of fright. Film producer Roger Corman has written an introduction to the book. His knowledge of Poe and his many film adaptations of Poe’s work will help make this a book for all Poe fans, English students and film enthusiasts. The book sells for $20. Family Fun:
The Haddonfield Historical Society and the Haddonfield Library partner on the Ghost Tours, to be held on Oct. 17,18, 24 and 25. The tours start at 7 p.m. at Greenfield Hall. Meet in front of Greenfield Hall about 6:45 p.m. Tickets are priced at $5 for children from ages three to 12; and $10 for adults. Tickets may be purchased at the tours or in advance from the Haddonfield Library, Haddonfield Info Center or at Greenfield Hall. Bill Meehan conducts the fun, scary tours.
The Friends monthly meeting is Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at the library. The Friends thank the community for their donations and volunteering to make the book sale one of the most successful ever.
The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Oct. 28 at 8 a.m. at the library. The public is welcome to attend.
