Mt. Laurel Police identify suspects in cigarette theft, make one arrest

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

Mt. Laurel Police identified the two men who stole $1,200 worth of cigarettes from the 7–11 store on the 1100 block of Route 73 on Sept. 25. The suspects were both 25-year-old men from Mt. Laurel. One suspect was arrested by Mt. Laurel Police during a motor vehicle stop on Canterbury Road on Oct. 7 at 5:35 p.m. He was charged with shoplifting from the 7–11 twice on Sept. 18 and once on Sept. 25. He was also wanted for a state parole violation. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $17,500 bail. The other suspect is still at large.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 42-year-old man of the unit block of Sassafras Road, Lumberton at his residence on Oct. 3 at 10:50 a.m. for forgery. The man was identified as the suspect who passed a counterfeit $100 bill at the Wawa on Larchmont Boulevard on Sept. 19. He was charged with forgery and theft with bail set at $7,500. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

An employee of Best Buy on Nixon Drive reported a shoplifting on Oct. 3 at 11:39 a.m. A man was observed leaving the store with a laptop computer valued at $400 without payment. The subject fled the area in a dark colored Nissan operated by a white female prior to police arrival.

A resident of the unit block of Warner Court reported an attempted fraud. An unidentified male caller attempted to obtain an $8,000 payment for an $800,000 prize. During a second call made to the resident, the caller threatened the resident when they said they were not interested. The phone number was identified as being assigned to the Montreal, Canada area. The incident occurred at 10:47 a.m. on Oct. 3.

A patron of the Mt. Laurel Library on Walt Whitman Avenue reported the theft of an unattended iPhone. The incident occurred on Oct. 3 between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. The phone is valued at $500.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 21-year-old woman from Cherry Hill, on Oct. 4 for theft. An investigation identified her as the suspect who took an unattended purse containing two cell phones from a table at the Funplex on Route 38. The items were valued at approximately $1,200. The woman was charged with theft and released on 10 percent of 5,000 bail.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 48-year-old man of the 500 block of Cambridge Drive, on Oct. 4, for driving while intoxicated. He was arrested after being stopped on Church Road near Church Street for a motor vehicle violation. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

A resident of Coral Avenue reported their vehicle was scratched, causing approximately $500 in damage, while it was parked in the parking lot of 127 Ark Road between 10 p.m. Oct. 4 and 6 a.m. Oct. 5.

A patron of the Centerton Square shopping center reported her purse was stolen while she was in the shopping around 1 p.m. on Oct. 5. A short time later her credit card was used at the Bed Bath and Beyond to make a fraudulent purchase.

A customer of ShopRite on Union Mill Road reported that she accidentally left her purse in the store or a shopping cart between noon and 12:20 p.m. Oct. 6. When she returned to the store a short time later the purse was gone.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 21-year-old man from Lansdowne, Penn., on Oct. 7 at 1 a.m. for drug offenses after he was stopped on Route 38 near Marter Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. The man was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 31-year-old man from Tullytown, Penn., on Oct. 7 at 10:45 a.m. for prostitution offenses and outstanding warrants. He was arrested during an investigation at a hotel on the 600 block of Fellowship Road. He was also wanted for prostitution charges in Philadelphia. He was charged with promoting prostitution and being a fugitive from justice. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail in lieu $55,000 bail.

A resident reported a criminal trespass to a vacant residence on Ramblewood Parkway that occurred between Oct. 3 and Oct. 7. Forced entry was made through a rear window but nothing was reported taken.

Police responded to a vacant residence on the unit block of Musket Lane for a report of juveniles trespassing on Oct. 8 at 5:10 p.m. Two male juveniles, age 13 and age 14, from Mt. Laurel were found inside the residence. They were turned over to their parents.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 25-year-old man of the 400 block of Equality Court, on Oct. 8 for shoplifting. He turned himself in at police headquarters for the shoplifting that occurred at the 7–11 located on Route 73 on Sept. 25. He was charged with shoplifting and committed to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

An employee of Eric’s Lawn Care on Mt. Laurel Road reported a burglary and theft to their repair shop on Oct. 9 between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m. The suspect forced entry to the side door and removed several power tools valued at $1,775. Damage to the door is estimated at $200.

A guest of a hotel on Diemer Drive reported someone stole a GPS, golf clubs and luggage from their vehicle while it was parked in the hotel parking lot. The theft occurred during the overnight hours of Oct. 8 into Oct. 9. The estimated value of the items stolen is $1,400.
