WSWA announces scholarship for Tabernacle resident

Taylor Donia of Tabernacle is the recipient of a $1,000 college scholarship from the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America Educational Foundation. Donia is a sophomore at Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

More than two dozen college students from across the country were awarded scholarships from the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America Educational Foundation to help pay for their higher education.

The competitive awards are presented each year to college student dependents of WSWA member firm employees, based on an assessment of the application elements by an independent board of judges.

For the 2014–2015 school year, the WSWA Educational Foundation awarded scholarships to 27 students representing ten different wholesaler companies operating in 13 states plus the District of Columbia.

“If there is one word that best describes America’s wine and spirits wholesalers, it’s ‘family,’” said Craig Wolf, WSWA President and CEO. “Many of today’s wholesalers are run by third, fourth or even fifth generation owners. The same can be said of our members’ employees — it’s not unusual for children to follow a parent into a career with a family-owned wholesaler,” Wolf added.
