Fall arrived on Sept 22. That means longer sleeves, cool nights and colorful leaves. Fall also means there will be some cool things happening in the borough of Haddonfield.
Kicking off the fall season in downtown Haddonfield is Girls’ Night Out hosted by the Partnership for Haddonfield Marketing Committee. On Thursday, Oct. 2, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., ladies of all ages are invited to come to Haddonfield for a celebration, exclusively for the ladies.
“This will be our fifth year of Girls’ Night Out. It is a great time for girlfriends, mothers with their daughters, grandmothers, all kinds of groups of women,” said Remi Fortunato, Haddonfield retail recruiter.
Girls’ Night Out will feature many of the town’s shops and boutiques offering the latest fall fashion, gift and dining trends along with in-store discounts, food and beverages and more.
“Girls’ Night Out feels like a party downtown. There are discounts, live entertainment and more with a party atmosphere,” Fortunato said. “Each store will have its own sales exclusively for the night.”
While walking from store to store, the ladies will find exciting surprises, specials and deals. One store may be offering percentages off your entire purchase; another could feature buy one, get one half off specials; and yet another store may be offering refreshments and enter-to-win contests.
A preview of participating Haddonfield boutiques and eateries offering promotions can be found at www.DowntownHaddonfield.com.
Continuing the celebration of fall is the Fall Festival & Craft Show, which is taking place on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The Fall Festival has been happening for over 17 years, starting out as a really small event and then becoming bigger each year,” said Marcy Boroff, festival director.
According to Boroff, about 10,000 to 12,000 people came for the past few years, and they are expecting just as many, if not more, this year.
The Fall Festival & Craft Show will feature a variety of Haddonfield’s community groups and more than 100 crafters, who will be lined up along Kings Highway’s sidewalks from Borough Hall to PATCO. Only Tanner Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event, where various artist tents will be set up.
“This is an event that highlights nonprofits and organizations within the community. The Fall Festival is also a great craft show with arts and crafts from local artists to artists all over the region,” Boroff said.
Crafts include florals, seasonal items, glass, wool, pottery, clothing and other handcrafted items. Some artists who will be coming include Beth Levin of From Junk 2 Funk of Haddonfield; Mary Clarke of A Touch of Stain; Melissa Kenney of Kenney Kut Outs & Illustration; and Sue Peltzman of Jewelry by Sue Peltzman of TOBY. Levin and Clarke have been to the Fall Festival for many years. Levin creates accessories out of bottle caps, and Clarke creates satin pillowcases that help with many nighttime and aging problems. First timers include Kenney, who does illustrations and cut outs, and Peltzman, who creates handcrafted jewelry.
Be sure to check out these crafters and more. The event will also feature carriage rides from noon to 3 p.m.
“It’s for all ages. It’s a great family friendly event,” Boroff said.
The rain date of the Fall Festival & Craft Show will be the next day on Sunday, Oct. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. For more information visit www.DowntownHaddonfield.com.
Also a part of the fall season is Professional First Friday. On Oct. 3 and Nov. 7, the first Friday of each month, professionals are asked to come to Haddonfield from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The Haddonfield Professionals meeting features one hour of networking and business card exchanging for local professionals in Haddonfield and surrounding Camden County communities, including Collingswood, Haddon Heights, Moorestown and Cherry Hill.
In addition, each meeting has a featured speaker. Participants are able to purchase Haddonfield town wide gift certificates at a 10 percent discount during the networking session.
