Woman steals from cheer association, attempted child luring in Mt. Laurel Police report

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 44-year-old woman of the 200 block of Countryside Lane, on Sept. 10 at police headquarters for filing a false police report and theft. On Aug. 30 at 1 p.m., the woman reported to the Mt. Laurel Police that she was the victim of a purse snatching. She claimed the theft occurred just after she exited her vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant at 720 South Church Street. She claimed that her purse contained $4,900 belonging to New Jersey Force Cheer Association of which she was an executive board member. The investigation revealed that the woman stole over $9,000 from the organization between Dec. 2013 and Aug. 2014. She claimed that the purse snatching she reported on Aug. 30 actually occurred but that she inflated the amount of money that was stolen to conceal the thefts that she committed. She was charged with filing a false police report and theft. She was released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the 5100 block of Essex Lane reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle between 8 p.m. Sept. 9 and 9:30 a.m., Sept. 10. A vehicle was keyed causing an estimated at $500 in damage.

An employee of Home Depot on Nixon Drive reported a shoplifting on Sept. 10 at 5:27 p.m. Four unidentified suspects worked together to steal faucets valued at approximately $1,000. The suspects removed a ceiling fan from a box and then filled the box with the faucets. One of the suspects then paid for the attic fan and left the store with the box full of faucets. The suspects left the area in a white Chevy minivan bearing a Pennsylvania registration prior to police arrival.

The Mt. Laurel Police Department is investigating an arson that occurred on the 5800 block of Coventry Way at 6:47 p.m. on Sept. 11. A decorative wreath that was hanging on the front door of the residence was purposely set on fire causing approximately $3,000 damage to the residence. The residence was occupied at the time but no injuries were reported.

A possible suspect in this crime was described as a man, approximately 16 years of age, slender build, about 5-feet 10-inches tall, wearing glasses and a blue and white striped shirt. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Mt. On Sept. 12 at 2:30 p.m., Mt. Laurel Police responded to the 100 block of Willow Turn for the report of an attempted luring. A 13-year-old male reported he was walking on the 100 block of Willow Turn when a white van pulled up next to him and stopped. The driver climbed into the back of the van and opened the driver’s side sliding door. He told the boy he was selling candy and invited him inside the van to select what type of candy he wanted. The boy then ran from the area and contacted his parents.

The driver of the van was described as a thin male, wearing a blue baseball cap, 20 to 35 years old with no facial hair and unknown hair color. The driver did not have an accent but stuttered as if he was nervous.

The vehicle was described as a newer white cargo van with no side windows and tinted front driver and passenger side windows. There was no writing, ladder racks, or distinguishing markings on the van. The registration of the vehicle is unknown.

The area was checked by police but no subjects or vehicles matching the descriptions provided were located.

A resident of the 400 block of Masonville Road reported a large birdhouse, valued at $50, was taken from outside the residence. The incident occurred between 8 p.m. Sept. 5 and 1 p.m. Sept. 12.

A resident of the unit block of Boothby Drive reported the theft of two trash cans, valued at $20, from the curbside in front of the residence. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 12 Noon, Sept. 11.

A resident of the unit block of Biddle Way reported a theft. Unknown actors accessed the victim’s bank account and made several fraudulent withdrawals totaling approximately $3,000 between Aug. 4 and Sept. 13.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 24-year-old woman, of the 100 block of Estates Road, Pine Hill, on Sept. 13 for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested subsequent to a suspicious person investigation at a hotel on the 1100 block of Route 73 at 9:10 p.m. She was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the 900 block of Country Club Parkway reported a stolen vehicle. A black 2000 Honda Civic, valued at $8,000, was taken at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Sept. 14.

A resident of the 300 block of Mt. Laurel Road reported a wildlife camera, valued at $100 was stolen from the wooded area at the rear of his property between 6 p.m. Sept. 13 and 4 p.m. Sept. 14.
