Evesham Township School District held 2nd Annual Technology Camp

Tech Camp

Sometimes the intricacies of technology can seem like rocket science, but thanks to a special Evesham Township School District workshop on integrating technology into the classroom, the district’s teachers can do much, much more.

More than 100 K-8 teachers took advantage of the ETSD 2nd Annual Technology Camp on Tuesday, Aug. 12. The “campers” gathered at DeMasi Elementary and Middle Schools in Marlton to gain a better understanding of how to best use technology and do some hands-on work in sessions that focused on various topics such as iPad and Google apps, Google Docs and Forms, and ActivBoard Flipcharts.

“Our annual tech camp was a huge success again this year,” said Danielle Magulick, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “Feedback from the participants was very positive. We are happy that so many teachers took advantage of this special professional development day to focus on creating 21st century digital learning environments in their classrooms.”

Camp opened with a keynote address from Phil Vinogradov, a certified Google trainer, who gave a presentation on “Gamification and Flipping the Classroom”. Then, participants selected four one-hour workshops to attend from 22 different offerings, all of which were facilitated by building technology coaches and the ETSD Technology Coordinator.

Devices such as iPads and Chromebooks already are an integral part of the classrooms at ETSD, so professional development workshops such as this one are a priority. The district’s technology initiatives for 2014–2015 will continue to focus on ActivBoards, iPads and Chromebooks.
