Home robbery tops Mt. Laurel Police report for Aug. 4

The following information is provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on Sheffield Court on Aug. 3 at 3:40 a.m. for the report of a robbery. The 30-year-old male resident reported that he and a friend had just arrived home when two masked men, one reportedly armed with a handgun, entered the residence. The victims reported the suspects tied their hands and demanded money and access to a safe. The victims did not know the combination to the safe and were not able to open it. One of the victims was struck in the face by a suspect resulting in minor injuries. The suspects fled the scene in the resident’s vehicle. The vehicle has not been recovered. It is a white 2014 Subaru Forrester with an aftermarket roof rack and the front grill is painted black. The incident is currently under investigation. A guest of the Hotel ML on Route 73 reported a theft. The guest reported that she left her purse unattended in a hallway on July 29 at 6:50 p.m. When she returned ten minutes later the purse was gone. It was later found on another floor of the hotel. Jewelry, valued at $1,000, and $20 cash was missing from the purse. Two suspects were identified by video surveillance. The first suspect is a male in his late teens, medium build, wearing a yellow and black striped shirt. The second suspect is a male in his late teens, wearing a black Rutgers hoodie, black and red hat, and red shorts.

An employee of the Lukoil on Route 38 reported a burglary and theft to the business. The incident occurred on July 30, between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. Entry was gained by smashing the front glass door. A cash register valued at an unspecified amount and $25 in coins was taken.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 29-year-old female of the unit block of Lennox Court, Sicklerville, on July 31 for credit card theft. An in investigation determined that she stole a co-worker’s credit card at a business on the 1200 block of Howard Boulevard. She then used the card and made fraudulent credit card purchases in Evesham and Camden City. The offenses occurred between 8 a.m. July 24 and 7 p.m. July 25. She was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the 300 block of Larch Road reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle. The incident occurred between 12:01 a.m. and 6:29 p.m., July 31. A wheel rim was damaged. Damage is estimated at $350.

A resident of the 800 block of Scottswood Court reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle. The incident occurred between 8:30 p.m., July 22, and 9 a.m., July 23. A vehicle was scratched. Damage is estimated at $100.

A resident of a hotel on the 600 block of Fellowship Road reported a fraud on July 31. The victim befriended a subject on a dating website who represented himself as a member of the U.S. military serving overseas. He told the victim he was in need of $5000 to return to his residence in Nigeria from Afghanistan. The victim sent $5,000 via Western Union to locations in Nigeria and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The victim then received a return payment check from the unidentified suspect, which was determined to be fraudulent.

A resident of Innova Health and Rehabilitation on Church Road reported a theft. A laptop computer, jewelry, and other items, valued at an unspecified amount, were taken from the victim’s room. The incident occurred at approximately 12:00 noon on July 17. There was no sign of forced entry to room.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 65-year-old female of the 100 block of Greensward Lane, Cherry Hill, on Aug. 2, for driving while intoxicated. She was stopped on Route 38 near Hartford Road at 12:57 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated. She was released pending a municipal court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 23-year-old male of the 1100 block of Essex Avenue, Voorhees, on Aug. 2 for driving while intoxicated. He was stopped on Route 73 near Fellowship Road at 1:25 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released pending a municipal court hearing.

A resident of the 100 block of Ramblewood Parkway reported a burglary and theft to a residence. The incident occurred between 12 noon Aug. 1 and 12 midnight Aug. 2. Entry was gained by forcing the rear window. More than $2,400 in cash was taken.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested 28-year-old male and a 31-year-old female, both of the 100 block of Gooseneck Court, Elkton, Md. and a 32-year-old female of the 400 block of Locust Point Road, Elton, Md. for drug offenses. They were stopped on Fellowship Road near Church Road for motor vehicle violations on Aug. 2 at 10:04 p.m. The man was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. The women were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. They were served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 31-year-old female of the 2600 block of Finlaw Avenue, Pennsauken, and a 32-year-old male, of the 400 block of North Broadway, Gloucester City for drug offenses. They were stopped on Route 73 near Lincoln Drive for a motor vehicle violation on Aug. 3 at 11:03 a.m. Both were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was also charged with possession of heroin. Both were served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.
