Woodcrest Road bridge work beginning this week

The Camden County Department of Public Works will temporarily alter the traffic pattern on the Woodcrest Bridge over Patco and NJ Transit rail lines in advance of its refurbishment. The Woodcrest Road Bridge in Cherry Hill and will have a traffic control plan implemented starting the week of June 30.

A recent bridge inspection and recommendation from engineers of the project area in October of 2013 have determined that the span is in need of structural upgrades.

“The traffic control plan will shift vehicles toward the center of the bridges in order to reduce the load off of certain bridge beams until the repairs can be implemented,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “These repairs are part of a long-term infrastructure improvement program.”

The project at the Woodcrest Road Bridge in Cherry Hill will include temporarily narrowing of the existing lane widths from 18 feet wide to 11 feet wide and adding seven foot wide shoulders on either side of the travel lanes. The speed over the span will be reduced to 25 miles per hour during the refurbishment.
