Mt. Laurel Police report copper thefts in this week’s blotter

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

An employee of Somerset Properties on the 12000 block of Commerce Parkway reported a theft. Copper tubing and wire, valued at an undetermined amount, was taken from 16 exterior air conditioning units. The incident occurred between 6 p.m., May 19, and 11 a.m., May 21. Damage was estimated at over $100,000.

The property manager for a building on the 15000 block of Commerce Parkway reported a theft and criminal mischief. Copper tubing and wire, valued at over $12,000, was taken from three exterior air conditioning units. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. May 23 and 8 a.m. May 27. Damage was estimated at over $7,500.

The property manager for a building on the 6000 block of Commerce Parkway reported a criminal mischief. The incident occurred between 6 p.m., May 26, and 12 noon, May 28. The exterior of the building was spray-painted. Damage is estimated at $1000.

A resident of the unit block of Abington Road reported a theft from an unlocked vehicle. The incident occurred between 6 p.m., May 10, and 6 a.m., May 11. An iPod Touch, valued at $130, was taken.

A Moorestown resident reported a theft. The victim arrived on the 300 block of Tolerance Court to meet an unidentified male subject to purchase a pair of shoes that were advertised on-line. The victim presented $200 cash and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, valued at $160, to pay for the shoes. The subject took the money and sunglasses and then fled the area without exchanging the shoes. The incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. May 19. A suspect was identified by police and investigation is ongoing.

A resident of the unit block of Daylily Drive reported a fraud. The victim received an email fraudulently representing Wells Fargo Bank. The email stated the victim’s account had been compromised and requested the victim’s personal identifying information. The victim provided the requested information and later became suspicious of the email. The victim contacted Wells Fargo Bank who stated the email was fraudulent. The incident occurred at an unspecified time on May 17. Residents are reminded to never provide personal identifying information over the internet.

A customer of the Wegmans on Centerton Road reported the theft of a wallet from a shopping cart. The wallet contained credit cards, cash and other documents valued at over $50. One of the stolen credit cards was fraudulently used to make a purchase at the adjacent Target a short time afterwards. The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. on May 21.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 29-year-old male of the 43000 block of Osage Court, Ashburn, Virginia on May 21 for identity theft and possession of a false government identification. He attempted to fraudulently purchase three iPhones from the Verizon store on Nixon Drive under a corporate account with which he had no affiliation. During subsequent investigation, he presented a fraudulent Virginia driver’s license to police for identification purposes. He was charged with identity theft and false government identification. He was remanded to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

A resident of the 800 block of Lafayette Drive reported a criminal mischief to a state of New Jersey owned vehicle. The incident occurred between 7 p.m., May 20, and 9 a.m., May 21. The passenger side of the vehicle was scratched. Damage is estimated at $500.

A resident of the 200 block of Chaucer Court reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle. The incident occurred between 9 p.m. May 22, and 8:20 a.m., May 23. A vehicle tire was slashed. Damage is estimated at $300.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 22-year-old male of the 400 block of Kennedy Avenue, Williamstown, on May 24 for theft. He removed wire and jacks, valued at $1650, from the parking lot of a hotel on the 1100 block of Route 73. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A customer of the Wegmans on Centerton Road reported the theft of a wallet. The wallet was taken after being placed on a counter while paying for groceries. The incident occurred on May 23 at approximately 11 a.m. The wallet and contents were valued at an unspecified amount.

A resident of the 100 block of Oliphant Lane reported the theft of an unsecured bicycle from a vehicle mounted bicycle rack. The incident occurred between 8 p.m. May 25 and 7:30 p.m. May 26. The bicycle was valued at $400.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 46-year-old male of the 4100 block of Beacon Avenue, Pennsauken, on May 28 for hindering and for being a wanted person. Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop in the area of Route 38 and Ark Road, he provided false information to police in an effort to hinder his apprehension for being a wanted person out of Texas. He was charged with hindering his own apprehension and with being a fugitive from justice. He was lodged at the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

A member of LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle reported a theft from a vehicle. The incident occurred between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., May 28. Cash and credit cards, valued at over $50, were taken. Entry was gained by forcing the driver’s side door lock. Damage is estimated at $250.

A customer of Wegmans on Centerton Road reported a theft. A wallet and contents, valued at an unspecified amount, was taken from a shopping cart. The incident occurred at 10 a.m.May 29. One of the stolen credit cards was used a short time later at the adjacent Target.

The Mt. Laurel Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle crash, which occurred on June 1, at approximately 10:12 p.m. The crash occurred on Route 73 northbound approaching the intersection with Church Road. A 2008 Harley- Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on Route 73, when it struck a 2007 Ford Edge that was stopped in traffic. The driver of the motorcycle, a 50-year-old male of the unit block of Congress Road, Pine Hill, was transported to Cooper Hospital where his condition was reported to be serious but stable. He was charged with driving while intoxicated. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the Mount Laurel Police Traffic Bureau at (856) 234–1414 ext. 1565.

A resident of the unit block of Holly Cove reported a credit card fraud. Fraudulent purchases, in the amount of $2,500, were made in Lewis, Del. and Carlsbad, Calif. The charges were made between 11:40 p.m., May 28 and 3:40 a.m. May 30.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 53-year-old female of the unit block of Garden Avenue, Blackwood, on May 31, for driving while intoxicated. She was stopped on Route 38 in the area of Briggs Road at 12:53 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A township juvenile reported a theft. A cell phone, valued at $600, was taken during a large fight in progress in the area of the Ramblewood Country Club on Country Club Parkway. The incident occurred at 11:30 p.m., May 30. The group dispersed upon police arrival.

A member of Future Fitness on Hovtech Boulevard reported a theft. A lock, iPad, iPhone, clothing and cash, valued at $3,800, were taken from a locker. The incident occurred between 12 noon and 3 p.m., May 30.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 34-year-old female of the unit block of Village of Stoney Run, Maple Shade, on May 31 for shoplifting $19.63 in merchandise from the ShopRite on Nixon Drive. The incident occurred at 5:39 p.m. She was served with criminal complaints and released on a summons pending a municipal court hearing.

A guest of a hotel on the 3000 block of Crawford Place reported a criminal mischief to a vehicle. The incident occurred between 10 p.m. May 31 and 8 a.m. June 1. Three tires were slashed. Damage is estimated at $543.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 24-year-old female of the 7000 block of North Broad Street, Philadelphia, on June 1 for being a wanted person out of Montgomery County. She was taken into custody subsequent to police investigation of a dispute at a motel on the 500 block of Fellowship Road at 4:37 p.m. She was charged with being a fugitive and lodged at the Burlington County Corrections Work Release Center in lieu of $5,000 bail.
