Voorhees Resident to Deliver Commencement Speech at Rutgers University-Camden

Jeffrey I. Baron, a 1969 graduate of Rutgers University–Camden and a partner at the law firm of Baron & Brennan in Voorhees, will deliver the keynote address during the 2014 commencement ceremony for the Rutgers–Camden Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Susquehanna Bank Center, located at One Harbour Boulevard on the Camden waterfront. Nearly 900 graduates are expected to earn their degrees.

Baron is a recognized authority in land use, zoning and planning, condemnation, and redevelopment. He has practiced before the New Jersey Pinelands Commission, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and other governmental agencies in matters related to real estate or environmental issues. He was designated as South Jersey Magazine’s Top Lawyer of 2003 in the area of zoning and land use, as South Jersey Magazine’s Top Lawyer of 2006 in the area of condemnation and as South Jersey Magazine’s Awesome Attorney for 2005 and 2007 in land use.

Baron earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Rutgers–Camden’ s College of Arts and Sciences in 1969 and his law degree in 1973 from the Rutgers School of Law–Newark, where he was a member of the Rutgers Law Review.

A dedicated supporter of his alma mater, Baron established the Jacob Abraham and Mildred Amelia Baron Fund in honor of his parents to provide academic enrichment to undergraduate, political science students at Rutgers–Camden. The endowed fund supports a free public lecture series, featuring nationally renowned speakers, as well as student fellowships, research, seminars, visiting faculty, and academic awards.

The largest academic unit at Rutgers–Camden, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences delivers a wide array of programs at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels in the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences and fine arts.
