Registration open for Alice Paul Institute’s Girlblazers Summer Camp

The Alice Paul Institute is accepting applications for Girlblazers Summer Camp. The camp, which is open to girls entering fifth or sixth grade in September, takes place from Thursday, June 26, through Wednesday, July 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Paulsdale, the Mt. Laurel birthplace and childhood home of Alice Paul, New Jersey’s most famous suffragist.

“Girlblazers is always exciting for the girls. Participants make new friends and try out lots of new activities,” said Kris Myers, program director at the Alice Paul Institute. “They also learn about historic and current women leaders who will inspire them to discover their own leadership potential.”

The camp begins with a tour of historic Paulsdale to teach the girls about the life and legacy of Alice Paul, then a yoga class, and a healthy eating and cooking workshop. Other activities include self-portraiture in the style of Frido Kahlo, a wood craft to learn about construction and engineering, and a trip to Lake Atsion in Shamong.

The registration fee is $175 per girl, with a $25 discount for registrations received before June 1. To register, or for more information about Girlblazers, contact Claire Schmieder, program associate at the Alice Paul Institute at (856) 231–1885 or claires@alicepaul.org.
