Evesham Township Police Department K9 unit used to track burglary suspect

The following report comes from Lt. Joseph Friel at the Evesham Police Department:

On March 4 at 6 p.m., Evesham Police Officers responded to the 300 block of Berkshire Way for a burglary to an unlocked vehicle. While officers were canvassing the area, they located additional unlocked vehicles that had been burglarized.

While on location police received another 911 call from a resident in the same neighborhood reporting a suspicious person, a few blocks away.

Officers set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and awaited the arrival of an Evesham Township Police Department K9 Unit. K9 “Brody” arrived in minutes and quickly picked up the suspect scent. While tracking the suspect, K9 Brody led officers directly to an unsecured door of a home in Medford Township. Following officer’s orders for anyone in the home to exit, the suspect emerged out from the front door and fled into a nearby wooded area. The officers gave chase and quickly apprehended the suspect.

Arrested:

A male, age 20, of the unit block of Prince Charles Court, in Martlon was charged with seven counts of third degree burglary and fourth degree resisting arrest in Evesham Township. In addition, Medford Township Police charged him for burglarizing three homes. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of $200,000 bail.
