Camden County preparing for Tuesday morning snow

The Presidents Day holiday isn’t stopping the Camden County Department of Public Works from prepping for another round of snow heading our way. This remarkably active winter has provided more than 50 inches snow and icy precipitation throughout the county this season.

“This storm’s timing is not great as its arrival will impact the morning rush hour and the most significant snow fall will come down from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. We will continue to monitor its progress and deploy crews in advance of the storm,” said Freeholder Ian Leonard, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “Even though we will be out there to keep traffic moving, please give yourself plenty of extra time to reach your destinations. We are expecting a busy commute in the morning after today’s light holiday traffic.”

After a mostly sunny day today, a quick moving system will arrive in the pre-dawn hours tomorrow. A steady shot of snow is possible with an inch or two of accumulation before tapering off mid-morning. This storm will end as a wintry mix or all rain with temperatures rising quickly during the day before topping off around 40 degrees.
At the public works complex in Lindenwold, more than 70 pieces of equipment and 100 employees stand ready to keep county roadways passable and motorists moving tomorrow. When the weather becomes treacherous personnel will be dispatched to 12 winter maintenance districts to address salt and plow 400 miles of roadways across the county.

“We are asking residents to stay off the roads whenever possible. If you have to drive tomorrow people should remain cautious and give themselves extra space between other vehicles,” Leonard said. “Anyone on the roadways during these times should be prepared to encounter slick or icy road conditions. In addition, please move all vehicles off the street while we move forward with our snow removal operation.”
