Cherry Hill African American Civic Association’s annual Black History Show coming on Feb. 8

The Cherry Hill African American Civic Association along with the African American Culture clubs of Cherry Hill High Schools East and West are sponsoring our annual Black History Show, “Sit.” The show depicts events surrounding the historical “sit-ins” at area lunch counters in the south.

The show is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8, at 7:00 pm at Cherry Hill High School West, located at 2101 Chapel Road Cherry Hill, NJ 08002. This dynamic production is a display of song, dance, spoken word, and drama.

The participants are current and former students of the Cherry Hill School District. The production is directed by Miss Keisha Blount, a 2005 graduate of Cherry Hill East. Keisha has coined the phrase “edutainment” to describe the show as both educational and entertaining. The show is well received with an average attendance of 200 persons.

The Sankofa Market place is back by popular request. For the fourth consecutive year, the market place will be available in the corridors and foyer area for local vendors to sell jewelry, art, African attire, fragrances, purses and other items. The market place will be open prior to the show, during intermission and following the show.
