Mt. Laurel residents asked to use water only for essentials after sewer main break

On Thursday, Jan. 9, the Mt. Laurel Township MUA experienced a break in the 24-inch diameter sewer force main located on Hartford Road, just south of Route 38. Crews have worked through the night to repair the break. The break is not yet repaired. Extensive bituminous paving, adverse soil conditions and the weather have hampered repair efforts.

To help facilitate the repair and to insure the safe operation of our sanitary sewer system, Hartford Road remains closed to traffic and our customers have been asked to limit their water use to essential use only until the repair is completed. The purpose of limiting water use is to reduce the amount of wastewater that’s generated and thereby discharged to the sanitary sewer system. Mount Laurel’s water supply has not been adversely affected by this situation and remains safe for all uses including consumption.
