Mt. Laurel residents encouraged to participate in county sheriff’s toy drive

Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield today announced that her department’s annual Toy Drive is officially underway, and that residents and businesses can donate toys for children of families in need numerous drop-offs located throughout the county.

Stanfield said that the collection will continue until Dec. 20, when officers will gather up the bins, and return them to the county complex. Toys will then be safety checked by the Burlington County Department of Consumer Affairs. Human service agencies will work with the sheriff to distribute the toys.

“Every year, our residents provide a wonderful response to the toy drive,” Stanfield said. “The holiday season brings out the best in people of our county, and it enables us all to put a smile on the face of a child who might otherwise go without.”

Last year, the department collected approximately 1,100 toys. The sheriff said she is optimistic that the drive will exceed that number this holiday season.

Drop-off locations in Mt. Laurel include Altegra, the Mt. Laurel MUA, Perry Videx, the Mt. Laurel Police Department, Mt. Laurel Prospectors and the Mt. Laurel Senior Center.
