Pet service raising funds for shelter

Out and About Pet Services is excited about the holiday season. Last week it celebrated its third year in the dog walking and pet sitting industry. Out and About is a Mt. Laurel-based company that services Mt. Laurel and surrounding towns, including Voorhees.

Each year, Out and About Pet Services holds an annual fundraiser for the Voorhees Animal Orphanage. The Animal Orphanage is a non-profit, no-kill, open-intake animal shelter that cares for approximately 200 orphans at any given time (both cats and dogs). The orphans are continually in need of medical care, food and supplies.

Each year Out and About Pet Services set a higher goal for participants to attain. Out and About Pet Services try to not only beat that goal, but surpass it.

For example, Out and About Pet Services first year’s goal was to fill one SUV front to back and top to bottom. With the help of our clients, family, friends and local businesses Out and About Pet Services were able to fill one and half SUVs. The following year Out and About Pet Services filled two SUVs completely with food and supplies.

Out and About Pet Services was able to donate approximately 900 pounds of cat and dog food alone.

It is very important that each of these dogs have a chance to be let out of their kennel and just simply be a dog. This helps immensely with their transition from the shelter to their forever home. Not one of these animals choose to be there and many end up there due to unfortunate circumstances. Luckily, the shelter has many terrific volunteers and staff to make their stay as comfortable as possible. Despite this, they are in constant need of food and supplies.
