County library collecting pajamas and new books

The Burlington County Library System is collecting new pajamas and new books for children in need, many of whom have been abused or abandoned and are hoping to be adopted.

The donations, which may be dropped off at the county library in Westampton and the branch facilities through Nov. 30, are being accepted for the Pajama Program, a 501©(3) charity that hopes to contribute to a warmer, more loving environment for children at their most vulnerable.

Living in group homes, shelters and temporary housing, these youngsters are often shuffled from one place to another, and many have never experienced the simple comfort of having a loving mother or father tuck them in at bedtime.
To date, the Pajama Program has given away more than 2 million pajamas and books to needy children, and library patrons are being asked to lend their support to this ongoing effort.

Donations of new, unused pajamas (complete sets or nightgowns) and new books for children up to age 18 are being accepted. Please drop off all donations in the collection boxes that have been set up in the lobby of the county library in Westampton and at the branch facilities in Bordentown, Cinnaminson, Evesham, Maple Shade, Pemberton, Medford and Riverton.
