Elizabeth Haddon school to celebrate centennial

Elizabeth Haddon Elementary School will be celebrating its Centennial Celebration on Oct. 28, at the school’s location during a School Community Meeting of students, staff, parents, and alumni beginning at 9:30 am.

This exciting event will commemorate 100 years of providing an excellent educational program to the Haddonfield community and the laying of the cornerstone on Oct. 27, 1913.

The Elizabeth Haddon School is well known for providing an excellent, comprehensive educational program throughout its history of serving the community. The Centennial Celebration will honor the school’s heritage. Activities that will occur during the community meeting will include the fifth grade class’ dramatic portrayal of the laying of the school’s cornerstone, the singing of colonial period songs, a video short celebrating Haddonfield’s Tricentennial Celebration, and a birthday cake.

An actor will portray “Elizabeth Haddon” and describe her experience of coming to the wilderness now known as Haddonfield and the town’s development around her home she shared with her husband, John Estaugh.

The day will conclude with several Elizabeth Haddon Alumni sharing their experiences of attending the school with each class in the afternoon.
