County libraries offer resources to young students, parents

With the start of another school year, it’s useful to know how much reliable information younger students and parents can find to do homework from a home Internet connection through services offered by the Camden County Library System.

New this year, the library is providing library cardholders free access on its website to the services of Tutor.com. Students and adult learners can get one-on-one online tutoring to help with their homework questions at www.camdencountylibrary.org/tutor.

Also Kid’s Zone is a special section on the library’s website that includes homework help in a variety of forms. Go to the library’s home page at www.camdencountylibrary.org/ and click on Using the library at the top where visitors will find the Kids Zone menu that includes a link to the Homework Help page.

The Homework Page has a variety of websites that are great sources of information for students and parents. The page also offers a link to Ask a Librarian service by email, telephone or onsite at one of the library’s eight branches.

Searchasaurus is one of the resources available on the homework help page that enables students and their parents to search thousands of articles.

It has an online general encyclopedia and an animal encyclopedia that offers a lot of information about animals from around the world.

The Homework Help page also offers Primary Search, a database geared to finding age-appropriate magazine articles for children.

Some of the sources on Kids Zone like Searchasaurus require a barcode number found on the back any valid library card, but many of the online sources do not require a card and are accessible at www.camdencountylibrary. org/homework-help
