The 33rd Annual Bike MS City to Shore Ride will be held on Sept. 28 and 29. Voorhees is again proud to be a participant in the event, which begins at the Woodcrest Speedline Station in Cherry Hill then winds its way through our community.
Named by Bicycling Magazine as the “Best Cycling Getaway in N.J.,” the ride promises to be the best cycling experience on the east coast and takes riders through scenic South Jersey to Ocean City. Ride with 7,000 cyclists of all ages and cycling abilities for the challenge of your choice with several route options. Enjoy flat terrain as you travel through the quaint towns and back roads of South Jersey.
Pedal through the blueberry fields of Hammonton, experience the serene beauty of the Pine Barrens and listen to the waves as you roll into historic Ocean City. Following an overnight stay, cyclists return to Cherry Hill on Sunday for a festive finish line celebration.
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease affecting the central nervous system that impacts the lives of more than 14,000 local people who live with the disease. The symptoms are unpredictable and vary from person to person. They can range from abnormal fatigue or numbness to severe vision problems or difficulty walking.
The National MS Society’s mission is to create a world free of Multiple Sclerosis. As the largest non-profit fundraiser of MS research in the world, the Society has invested more than $500 million and provides more services to those living with MS than any other organization in the world.
The bike event is projected to raise more than $5 million to continue the Society’s mission. Cyclists will travel though our township to unite in the fight against MS. All funds raised are used to support medical research and provide services for local families living with MS.
Bike MS depends on the support of more than 1,200 volunteers for its success each year. If you choose not to ride, your help as a volunteer would be appreciated. All volunteers will receive a 2013 Bike MS T-shirt.

** Our Summer Twilight Series concludes with our annual Movie Night in the Park on Saturday, Sept. 21. The students in the Voorhees Schools will vote on their favorite movie to be shown on the “big screen.” The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at Connolly Park and is free.
** The Voorhees Animal Orphanage will hold its 17th Annual Woofstock on Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Connolly Park. The event will feature festivities for animal lovers of all ages and their leashed pets. Crafters and vendors are welcome. ** The Farmer’s Market at the Voorhees Town Center is open from 8 a.m. until noon every Saturday rain or shine through Oct. 5. Vendors include Duffield’s, Fruitwood, Bellview Winery and more, supplying both “Jersey Fresh” and locally grown produce, meats, cheeses, wines and more.
**The 5th Annual Chad Gunther Memorial Dinner will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the E Lounge, 807 Route 70 West in Cherry Hill. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and dancing at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by The Rivers Rockabilly Trio. Tickets are $55 per person. This year, the organization plans to use some of the funds raised to assist the Gibbsboro/Voorhees Athletic Association in purchasing a new scoreboard.
