YMCA to host Pedal With A Purpose Spinathon Sept. 7

Make a difference in the lives of children while getting great exercise!

The YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties, a cause-driven non-profit charitable organization, will host the inaugural Pedal With A Purpose Spinathon in partnership with Reconstructive Orthopedics on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Mt. Laurel YMCA.

Proceeds from the four-hour Spinathon will provide children in local communities with YMCA Youth Scholarships and access to programs that will have a lasting impact — helping them learn, grow and thrive.

In addition to Reconstructive Orthopedics, the Spinathon is sponsored by Ivy Rehab.

“We are very excited to hold a new fundraising event that combines physical fitness while meeting our mission of youth development and social responsibility,” said Jen Segelken, director of development, YMCA of Burlington and Camden counties.

“Participating in youth programs at the Y helps children develop healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives, such as gaining confidence from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork.”

Teams may consist of up to eight members. The bike must be occupied for the entire four-hour event. Cyclists can ride in one or two 15-minute increments. After a maximum of 30 minutes on the bike, the teammate must switch.

The event will feature a DJ and cycling coach to motivate cyclists to Pedal with a Purpose.
The teams must meet the minimum fundraising entry fee of $500, in addition to a $25 team registration fee.

Friends, family and supporters can donate money to teams directly or send a CheerGram to be announced during the Spinathon by a DJ for $25.

Participants have three ways to register: online, in person with deposit and completed registration form at the Mt. Laurel YMCA at 59 Centerton Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054, or by phone by contacting Jen Segelken at (856) 234–6200 x243.
