‘Cooper Cupcakes’ to help raise funds for lung cancer research

The grandchildren of the late owner of Ponzio’s Diner-Bakery-Bar in Cherry Hill. recently took over the diner’s kitchen to bake and decorate “Cooper Cupcakes” to benefit the Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund at Cooper.

Fifis was the long-time owner of Ponzio’s before he died in 2007 of lung cancer.

His dying wish was for his three sons Nick, John and Chris to advocate for a cure for lung cancer and work to raise the awareness about the dangers of smoking.

In his memory, the Fifis family and The Cooper Foundation of Cooper University Hospital launched the Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund at Cooper.

Now in its third year, the fund raises money to help ensure patients have access to the most advanced and most up-to-date cancer care available.

Cooper Cupcakes are on sale at Ponzio’s, Cooper University Hospital and Ravitz ShopRite stores and cost $5 each.

All proceeds benefit the Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund at Cooper. In addition to selling Cooper Cupcakes, the Fifis family and The Cooper Foundation will hold its third Annual Jim Fifis Lung Cancer Research Fund dinner on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Tickets are $125 each and are available by visiting cooperhealth.org/foundation or calling (856) 963–6704.

Sponsorships are also available for the event.
