Letter: Moorestown elected officials take the stage

Moorestown has long been home to a vibrant and active arts community. Throughout the year, audiences in our town are given the opportunity to see children, spouses, friends, and neighbors in one of the fantastic performances by one of our town’s great theater companies. This summer is no different, and there are a number of wonderful shows to see starting this week! We wish the casts and crews well for each of these shows, knowing they will bring the same magic to each performance that they always do.

We are especially proud to extend our best wishes to some of our local Republican elected officials as they take to the stage beginning tonight!

Councilwoman Victoria Napolitano will be performing as a member of the Ensemble in the 15th summer musical by MoorArts, “Evita.” She will perform in each of the shows with the rest of her talented cast mates on July 12, 13, 17, 19, and 20 at 8 p.m. and on July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Moorestown High School.

Starting next week, you will also have the opportunity to see three more of our talented elected officials in the Moorestown Theater Company’s “Bye, Bye Birdie.” On July 19, Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly will take the stage as the Mayor of Sweet Apple at 7 p.m. The role of the Mayor will then be played by Moorestown’s Deputy Mayor Chris Chiacchio on July 21 at 2 p.m. Finally, Councilman Phil Garwood will take the stage, also playing the Mayor role, on July 25 and 27 with both shows at 7 p.m. There will also be shows for “Bye, Bye Birdie” on July 18, 20, and 26 at 7 p.m. and a 2 p.m. show on July 27.

We are proud to see that that these four public servants have joined the tradition of taking part in the plays in our town. The folks at MoorArts and the Moorestown Theater Company give so much of their time and energy into each and every show that they perform, and are true gems in our community. The passion and dedication they display each season shows the best of the Moorestown spirit and makes us very proud of each and every one of them!

To all involved, we say “break a leg,” and we look forward to seeing the shows!
