UPDATE: Fire on Moore Lane leaves one injured

A fire broke out at a residence on the 200 block of Moore Lane on July 9 at approximately 4:27 p.m. One firefighter received “non-life threatening” injuries and was sent to the hospital for evaluation, Haddon Fire Company №1 Chief Joe Riggs said.

According to Riggs, contractors working on the home noticed smoke coming from an electric meter located outside.

Firefighters located the source of the fire in the basement of the dwelling after noticing smoke from both the exterior and interior of the home. The fire was immediately extinguished using a compressed air foam system and the home sustained smoke damage, he said.

The cause of the fire was determined as an electrical fire in the basement, Riggs said.

According to Riggs, the Haddon Heights firefighter injured on-scene was taken to Kennedy Hospital in Stratford. He sustained a knee injury and was released from the hospital last night.

No other injuries were reported and there was no one in the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire was not immediately disclosed.

Cherry Hill and Haddon Heights fire departments were also dispatched.
