The summer months bring warm weather, vacations, beach days and more.
But for those who are looking to find more to do during the summer besides lounging around at the poolside or beach, here is a list of local happenings.
Concerts in the park
Voorhees Township’s annual Summer Twilight Series is in the middle of its performance rounds, which started on June 20 with Dr. K’s Motown Revue.
The free shows are a great way to gather the family without spending a fortune.
Attendees are allowed to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages to the performances.
All performances are at John Connolly Park on Centennial Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. Performing at the park are Strawberry Fields (Songs of The Beatles), a Beatles tribute band, on July 11, with a rain date of July 18; “Lets Hang On” Frankie Valli and Four Seasons Tribute band on Aug. 8, with a rain date of Aug. 9; and Cocktail Party Phenomenon on Aug. 29 with a rain date of Aug. 30.
Movies in the park will wrap up the Summer Twilight series on Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
The rain date for the final event is Sept. 28.

Enjoy the outdoors
On a sunny day, enjoying outdoor activities are a must. Voorhees has plenty of outdoor recreational facilities to visit.
John Connolly Memorial Park, located on Centennial Boulevard, has a playground, walking track, cricket pitch and a dog park.
Elliot Drive Playground, located on Elliot Drive, is a playground meant for children ages 2 to 5 and has a picnic table for a quick snack.
Giangiulio Sports Complex, located on Victor Boulevard, has a baseball field, a turf football field and a playground. John Hale Memorial Park, located on West End Avenue, has a swing set, picnic tables, grills and pavilions.
Kirkwood Sports Complex, located on Laurel Oak Road, has a playground for children ages 2 to 10, picnic tables, a walking path, a bocce ball court and basketball and tennis courts. Lake Villa Playground, located on Cornell Drive, has a playground for children ages 2 to 5, a swing set and tennis and basketball courts. Lions Lake Complex, located at 101 Dutchtown Road, has a playground for children ages 2 to 10, batting cages, a lake, softball fields and picnic tables. Maiaroto Sports Complex, located on Echelon Road, has soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts. Rabinowitz Sports Complex, located on Kresson Road, has baseball fields, a swing set, batting cages and picnic tables.
Round Hill Road Playground, located on Round Hill Road, has a playground for children ages 2 to 10, a baseball field and tennis courts.
Sandpiper Drive Playground, located at Sandpiper Drive and Willowbrook Way, has a playground for children ages 2 to 12, swings and picnic tables. Sheppard Road Basketball Courts, located on Sheppard Road off Centennial Boulevard, has one full court and two half courts.
Farmers market
Voorhees Town Center’s farmers market will be up and running every Saturday, rain or shine, until Oct. 5, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Local vendors line Town Center Boulevard selling Jersey Fresh produce, wine, fresh pasta, home baked breads, flowers and more.
Local farmers and vendors include Bellview Winery from Landisville, Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms from Kennett Square, Pa., Duffield’s Farm from Sewell, Fruitwood Orchards Honey Farm from Monroeville and Talluto’s from Washington Township.
As part of the market, there will be a Caribbean Block Party on July 13 and Aug. 10.
Children can come and enjoy The Children’s Discovery Museum, a balloon artist and sidewalk chalk.
