Burlington County Library announces new summer digital learning program

The Burlington County Library System invites kids and teens entering grades six to 12 to “go digital” and tell their stories this summer.

The new 2013 Summer Digital Learning Program encourages students to use digital tools and their imaginations to create three to five-minute videos, animations and photo-stories on topics of their choice.

Participants register online, choose their digital format and then select their own themes, from telling an original story, to planning a virtual trip, to turning local lore into something new and exciting for all to see and hear.

Select library computers have programs that can assist participants in creating their digital stories, and for those who may want a little extra help, special summer workshops have also been scheduled, including:

• Animation for Teens and Tweens at the Evesham Library on July 5 at 2 p.m.
• Digital Basics at the Pemberton Library on July 9 at 2 p.m., and the County Library on July 13 at 10:30 a.m.
• Intro to Moviemaker at the County Library on July 11 at 3 p.m.

Students have until 5 p.m. on Aug. 5 to submit their digital stories, either online or at the County Library in Westampton or the Bordentown, Cinnaminson or Pemberton libraries. At the end of the summer, participants and their families will be invited to a screening of the entries in the County Library auditorium where prizes will be awarded.
