Safe boating classes begin in July

United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 13–07 will again be holding monthly safe boating classes beginning in July.

The “About Boating Safety” class will provide students with the required training and testing necessary to receive the state police boating safety certificate.

Recently, New Jersey mandated that all boat operators must have a boating safety certificate issued by the state police.

“About Boating Safety” is a beginner class offering eight hours of classroom instruction and is intended to give students the knowledge needed to obtain a boating safety certificate.

Upon completion of the course and passing the test, students will be given a temporary certificate until an official certificate is mailed. Many boat insurance companies offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete this class.

The course will be offered twice each month: Session one will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30– 9:30 p.m. during the first week of the month and session two will be held the third Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. of each month. Classes are normally held in the Medford VFW located at 317 Church Road in Medford.

Seats may be reserved by contacting Robert Kanzler by email at dbkanzler@gmail.com or by phone at (856) 722–9633.
