The Haddonfield Japan Exchange is pleased to announce that it will be holding the annual Sake Sushi Night and Auction at the Markeim Arts Center in Haddonfield on June 8 from 7 to 11 p.m.
Last Summer 14 students from Haddonfield traveled to Kasukabe, Japan for a two-week visit staying with Japanese host families. This summer, 22 visitors will Kasukabe will make a return trip to spend time in Haddonfield and stay with local host families. The Sake Sushi Night is the main fundraiser for the Japan Exchange, which is supported by the school district but completely funded by donations from local sponsors and fundraisers.
There will be plenty of Sake and Sushi along with Beer donated by the Flying Fish Brewery along with origami and calligraphy demonstrations. There will also be a great selection of auction items generously donated from local and national business including: Yukata (summer Kimono) and a Haori (Jacket worn over Kimono) donated by Kyoto Kimono of Endicott, NY; a regular Kimono; water color portrait of your home matted and framed by Jerry Knott; a copy on canvas of an original painting by a local artist; gift basket from Bell’s Bodies; collection of admissions to attractions in Cape May donated by the Mid-Atlantic Art Center; an overnight stay at the Haddonfield Inn; gift certificates to local Japanese restaurants; gift certificate from local photographer, Colette Oswald; and more.
