Freeholders host bike rodeo at Von Nieda Park

To promote safe bicycling this summer, the Camden County Freeholder Board’s Division of Highway Traffic Safety and Parks Department will host a bike rodeo in conjunction with Cross County Connection, Safe Kids Southern NJ and the Brain Injury Alliance NJ.

“The Bike Rodeo is a fun way for kids to learn how to ride their bike properly and safely,” said Freeholder Scot McCray, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Safety. “We invite children to bring their own bikes or scooters to participate in this fun, educational morning event.”

The day will feature helmet fitting stations, bicycle fit advice, the ABC’s of bicycling, the rules of the road and an obstacle course. There will also be Public Safety displays during the event.

Von Nieda Park is one of the 21 parks that comprise the Camden County Park System. It contains baseball and softball fields, basketball courts and a bike path in Camden City.

The event is on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. Von Nieda Park is located between 29th Street, Harrison Street and Arthur Avenue in Camden.
