Cherry Hill man, 50, steals bicycle, police say

The following incidents were taken from reports on file with the Cherry Hill Police Department.

On April 8 at 10:04 p.m., the Cherry Hill Police responded to the report of a burglary in progress at an apartment at 606 Cooper Landing Road.

At scene police were approached by the suspect, who admitted attempting to make entry to the subject apartment.

A 43-year-old man of 606 Cooper Landing Road Cherry Hill, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession burglary tools and criminal mischief. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail in lieu of bail.

On April 8 at 9:15 p.m., the Cherry Hill Police responded to the report of two bicycles being stolen from the rear yard of 34 Spruce St. In concert with the Merchantville Police the Cherry Hill Police began to search for the suspect based on the description provided by the resident. A short time later Sgt. Miller of the Merchantville Police Department found a man matching the suspect’s description riding a black, white and red mountain bike.

The teen and his mother arrived at the scene, where the teenager positively identified the suspect as the bicycle thief and the subject bike as his property. A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence led to the discovery of the second stolen bicycle, which was found in the rear yard. The suspect used pliers and vice grip type pliers to break the locks on the victim’s bicycles. These tools were also found in the rear yard of the suspect’s dwelling.

The suspect, a 50-year-old man of the 100 block of Wisteria Ave. in Cherry Hill, was arrested and charged with theft, criminal mischief, defiant trespassing and possession of burglary tools. He was released on four complaint summonses, pending a court date of April 17.
