Burlington County Clerk online ordering of document copies

Burlington County Clerk Timothy Tyler announced a new web service for residents seeking copies of land records.

This service is designed to assist residents and especially senior citizens who are often the target of unscrupulous companies giving dire warnings that “experts” say everyone should have copies of their deeds and then charge large amounts for documents.

“There are a few companies that send out misleading solicitations from time to time,” said Tyler. “We wanted a means for seniors and other residents who have been solicited to request their documents without having to leave their homes or pay the exorbitant fees charged by these predators.”

All constituents may now order copies of their important records by filling out a form online and sending it back to the clerk’s office.

“Until we launched this service residents could only obtain official copies by coming in to our office,” said Tyler. “We have offered unofficial copies of digitized documents through our Public Records Electronic Search System since investing in the technology in 2011.”

The expansion of services has been made possible through the implementation of a new Land Records Management System in 2012 and recent moves to accept credit cards.

The clerk’s office now accepts credit cards for most counter services. They are not accepted for document recording or fees paid to the Department of State for passports.

To request document copies with the online form, residents can go to the clerk’s web page www.co.burlington.nj.us/countyclerk where a link to full instructions and the request form are available at the top center of the page.

Residents will need a document type, book and page number which they may obtain using the current search system for most documents indexed back to 1965.

Documents may also be requested by the Instrument number assigned at the time of recording.

Copies are available at $2 per page. Certified Copies may be obtained for $10 for certification plus $1.50 per page.

Copy fees are set in accordance with New Jersey Statutes.

Customers may access records, and make copies on self-service equipment in the clerk’s for 5-cents per page.
