MYSF looking for umpires

Opening Day for the MYSA 2013 Spring season is around the corner and we are looking for youth umpires to work our third to sixth grade leagues.

Umpires can be girls or boys in 7th grade or higher. Umpires work for pay ($15 to $25 per game) or community service hours, with MYSA providing all training and equipment. Games are scheduled for weeknights and Saturdays, typically at the Jeff Young fields on Lenola/New Albany Roads. Games are assigned according to the umpires’ availability. Umpires would work one to two games per week and the season runs from April to mid-June.

In addition to the annual umpire training session prior to opening day, this year we will also provide-field mentoring over the course of the season.

Interested youths must participate in the initial training sessions, which are scheduled as follows:

Rookie Umpires (1 year or no experience) will have training on Saturday, March 23 from noon to 2:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 24, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Both sessions are required.

Veteran Umpires (2 or more years experience) will begin training on Saturday, March 23, from noon to 2:30 pm

All training sessions will be held at the William Allen Middle School Gym and participants should bring a glove. This training is held in conjunction with the Moorestown Youth Softball Federation umpire training so that participation qualifies you to umpire in both Softball and Baseball leagues this spring if interested.

If you are interested, register online at www.moorestownsoftball.org.

From the “Registration” tab, scroll down until you see 2013 Umpire Registration. A reminder will be sent prior to the training sessions to all those registered.
