After months of planning, the Friends of the Indian King Tavern Museum are ready to announce the 2013 calendar of events.
In addition to the tavern’s calendar, friends group will also participate in Haddonfield’s tricentennial celebrations, including a visit by the town’s founders, Elizabeth Haddon and John Estaugh on Feb. 9 and a reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 4.
Admission is free for all events except for the tavern’s second annual beer tasting on Saturday, May 18.

Saturday, February 9: First person interpreters will portray Elizabeth Haddon and John Estaugh as they discuss Haddonfield’s rich history and what it was like to settle this historic town. The presentation will begin at 2 p.m.
Saturday, March 9: Levram The Great, 18th century Magician, will perform two shows at 2 and 3 p.m. doing tricks and slight of hand from the Colonial Era.
Saturday, May 18: “Three Cheers for 300” will be the theme for the tavern’s second annual beer tasting fundraiser. Once again this year, the tavern will serve traditional beer and fare from the Colonial Era. The three seatings are expected to sell out so get your tickets early.
Saturday, June 1: Revolutionary War re-enactors will “encamp” at the tavern from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t be surprised if there’s a skirmish!
Thursday, July 4: Before Haddonfield’s annual parade on Kings Highway, an interpreter will read the Declaration of Independence at 9:30 a.m. on the steps of the tavern. An open house will follow the parade.
Saturday, October 12: As part of Haddonfield’s Fall Festival, a first-person interpreter will portray resident Timothy Matlack for the Indian King’s Open House.
Starting Black Friday, November 29, the Indian King Tavern will host Open Houses during Haddonfield’s candlelight shopping on Friday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The dates are December 6, 13 and 20. Entertainment is slated for each night and warm apple cider will be served, adding to the holiday ambiance.
