The Department of Recreation has been awarded a $20,000 state grant to support programming for Cherry Hill residents with special needs, Mayor Chuck Cahn has announced.
The grant, awarded through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities (ROID) program, will support staff training, as well as the Teen Social Scene program and New Horizons, which provides accommodations for disabled children in the township’s Morning Fun summer camp program.
It will also help fund Connections, a program that provides support for individuals with disabilities who want to participate in any existing Township recreational activity.
“No one should ever be prohibited from participating in the things they enjoy simply because of a disability,” Cahn said. “These funds will help ensure that the township can continue to provide the support necessary to make all of our recreational events and activities inclusive to residents of all ages and abilities.”
