Burlington County College to provide free dental care for children Feb. 1

Burlington County College (BCC) helps kick-off National Children’s Dental Health Month by providing children, ages 12 and under, free dental care on “Give Kids a Smile Day,” Friday, Feb. 1.

The one-day program is the largest nationally organized free health care day in America and part of the American Dental Association’s (ADA) annual push to bring attention to the number one childhood disease, tooth decay.

BCC has consistently ranked among the top three percent of New Jersey sites for the amount of dental treatment provided on this one day. Dental hygiene students and instructors, as well as volunteer local health care professionals, will provide free preventive and emergency dental care, along with as many dental procedures as can be provided in one visit, including fluoride treatments, fillings, and extractions. BCC will also provide free dental hygiene materials including toothbrushes, floss and toothpaste to all participants.

The day also includes special visits from some well-known characters, including the tooth fairy, and Delta Dental of New Jersey’s Captain Supertooth from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Face-painting, a caricature artist, and seeing-eye puppies in training will also be a part of the entertainment.

Patients will be seen between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Dental Hygiene center at BCC, which is located in the Parker Center building, room 318 on the Pemberton campus at 601 Pemberton-Browns Mills Road.
